Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) Program
Outpatient Physical Therapists are certified to provide this intensive four-week outpatient treatment program, which has been scientifically and clinically verified to improve the movement patterns, balance, walking, and overall quality of life of patients with Parkinson's disease or other neurological disorders.
Based on the "Loud" program used in Speech Therapy, the "Big" program targets immediate post-treatment improvement, along with developing skills for long-term maintenance. For more information, or to arrange an evaluation, please call (914) 597-2122.
Burke also offers the Fit-For-Life R.E.A.C.H. for Parkinson's Disease program through the Fitness Center at Burke. This exercise class is designed for the individual with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease who can independently transfer and walk. R.E.A.C.H. stands for Range Exercise and Cardiovascular Health. This class is for graduates of Burke Outpatient LSVT-BIG program as an exercise continuation program. It occurs in a group setting and incorporates full body exercise and cardiovascular training.
Fee: Introductory price of $170 for three month membership, class takes place twice per week.
