Burke Rehabilitation’s Physician Practice offers continued outpatient rehabilitation care for patients who have completed an inpatient stay at Burke or another post-acute rehabilitation hospital, as well as for members of the community needing outpatient rehabilitation services for symptoms of a chronic condition or injury. 

Our board-certified physicians specialize in a wide variety of conditions, including stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, orthopedic surgery, amputations, musculoskeletal disorders, chronic pain, dementia and arthritis. Working in multidisciplinary teams with your Burke inpatient physician and therapy team, — or with your specialist, primary care physician or family doctor, — members of our Physician Practice create and oversee individualized care plans to help you maximize your recovery and achieve your goals.

    • The Burke / Montefiore physician practice offers specialized care for patients who can benefit from treatment by physicians who specialize in rehabilitation medicine. This can be the result of chronic illness, injury, pain or neurological condition, among other issues.
  • Can a physician at Burke be my primary care physician?
    • Although the Burke / Montefiore physician practice is not considered primary care, it can be used as such for patients who require specialty rehabilitative care or in conjunction with your primary care physician.

    • Yes, the physicians in the practice perform evaluations and diagnostic testing  when necessary to determine the needs and best care plan for each individual patient.
