Patient Rights and Responsibilities

Your Rights as a Patient

As a patient in New York State you have certain rights that are guaranteed by law. These rights are mandated at the state level and are assured to anyone being treated or in need of treatment at a hospital, clinic, outpatient facility or other health care setting. Burke Rehabilitation Hospital wants to ensure that you know these rights. For this reason we have provided you with the New York State Patient Bill of Rights on our website.

Download a PDF version of the Bill of Rights here.

You may also review the Patient Bill of Rights on the New York State Department of Health’s website, which provides versions in several languages.

Your Responsibilities as a Patient

In addition to your rights as a patient, you also have responsibilities.
