Over the past several years, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital’s outpatient facilities have seen a significant increase in the need for their services. Just last year, in 2016, Burke had over 115,000 outpatient visits. By the end of this year, 2017, we expect to have over 125,000 outpatient visits.
To address the growing demand for outpatient therapy, we opened an additional satellite location in Armonk in 2016. The site serves as an important addition to the comprehensive rehabilitation services offered by Burke at the main hospital campus in White Plains and available at our other satellite centers in Armonk, Purchase, Mamaroneck, Yonkers, Somers, and the Bronx. We have strengthened our relationship in the community by partnering with White Plains Hospital and now provide management services to their outpatient therapy practice in White Plains, as well as partnering with St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital.
In early 2016 we became a member of the Montefiore Health System. In 2017, we plan to continue our growth both organically, as well as in partnership with other members of the Montefiore Network. Our goal is to continue to provide rehabilitation services of the highest quality, as expected from a Burke facility, in locations that are both accessible and convenient to residents.
Burke’s outpatient department services include physical and occupational therapy, speech, language and swallowing therapy, neuropsychology, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and a memory evaluation and treatment service.
Our individually tailored outpatient programs complement the acute, intensive inpatient experience at Burke. We want to help each patient achieve their own goals and reach their full potential. Former inpatients can continue their progress while community residents have access to rehabilitative services provided in a professional and compassionate environment at any of our seven convenient locations.
Expertise in rehabilitation care for patients of all types has long been a trademark of Burke. We provide care for patients ranging in age from young school athletes to older adults, with physical disabilities resulting from orthopedic and sports injuries, stroke, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, cardiac disease, chronic pulmonary disease, arthritis and amputation, just to name a few.
All of our outpatient clinics are community centered, and the staff at all of our clinics participate in many local events throughout Westchester. We will continue to educate the public and partner with local organizations to promote healthy behaviors and make ourselves an available resource.
We are proud to be part of the continuum of care offered at Burke. We also offer various exercise and education programs to patients after discharge from therapy through the Burke Adult Fitness Center.
Thank you for your support and for helping us build and maintain a solid foundation in the community over the years. We look forward to continuing to enhance the lives of our patients for many years to come.
