White Plains, NY, October 8, 2021: Burke Rehabilitation Hospital announced it has received a prestigious three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The achievement recognizes Burke’s specialized expertise and deep commitment to caring for patients with severe injuries and chronic diseases and improving their quality of life. Burke has received this accreditation, given only to inpatient rehabilitation facilities conforming to the highest standards of patient care, since the late 1990s.
CARF, an international, independent, nonprofit organization, acknowledged Burke’s excellence in the following areas: Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs for adults, children and adolescents; Inpatient Brain Injury Specialty Programs for adults, children and adolescents; Inpatient Spinal Cord Specialty Programs for adults; Inpatient Stroke Specialty Programs for adults, children and adolescents; and Interdisciplinary Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs: Spinal Cord Specialty Program for adults.

According to the report, those served by Burke Rehabilitation Hospital “expressed gratitude for the organization’s ability to improve their functioning and return them to their communities.” CARF commended Burke for the care provided by team members, the facility and grounds as well as medical directors described as “actively engaged” in programs that support patient rehabilitation.

The agency made its recommendations based upon documentation, records, observations, and confidential interviews with current and former patients, administrators, board members and third-party stakeholders including insurers and fiscal intermediaries.
