Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mooyeon Oh-Park Receives ‘Doctors of Distinction’ Honor

White Plains, NY, [October 27, 2020]: Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mooyeon Oh-Park has been honored for “Exceptional Leadership in Healthcare” as one of Fairfield & Westchester Counties’ 2020 ‘Doctors of Distinction’. The honor was announced at the Recognizing Compassionate Care Virtual Event on Sept. 24, 2020, presented by the Fairfield & Westchester County Business Journals.


“We are extremely proud that Dr. Oh-Park has received this well-deserved honor,” said Burke President and CEO Jeffrey Menkes. “Her exceptional leadership has been more evident than ever during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Led by Dr. Oh-Park, our Burke team kept patients and staff safe while providing the highest level of expert care to COVID-19 survivors, so that they could make their best possible recovery. Her leadership directly impacted the hundreds of COVID-19 survivors that Burke treated and their loved ones.”


Dr. Oh-Park has been actively involved in every aspect of strategizing Burke’s approach to managing the COVID-19 crisis, including establishing daily communication, proper use of PPE, medical management, implementing surge units and ensuring staff wellbeing. Under her leadership, Burke has developed and implemented protocols and strategies to establish clinical integration with hospitals within Montefiore Health System and beyond. Dr. Oh-Park and her team established a working model of addressing the rehabilitation needs of COVID-19 survivors and an essential role of post-acute partner for acute care hospitals in New York city and the Hudson Valley region.


Dr. Oh-Park commented, “I am honored to receive this award along with my colleagues in the healthcare industry – all of whom have proven to be such remarkable heroes during the pandemic. It has been a great privilege to work with the Burke team, which has been unwavering in its dedication to helping all of our patients, including COVID-19 survivors, recover and go home to their families.”

Undoubtedly, she is a collaborator, problem solver, communicator, advocate, educator, mentor and leader of the highest caliber.”


As Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President, Dr. Oh-Park oversees the entire clinical, educational, and research activities at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and plays a key role in strategic planning and expansion of Burke’s programs and academic integration with the Montefiore Health System. She is a Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Department of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is an internationally known leader in the field of rehabilitation medicine and serves in leadership roles on various professional associations and editorial boards.


Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is a not-for-profit, acute rehabilitation hospital in White Plains, NY. Founded in 1915 through an endowment from philanthropist John Masterson Burke, it is the only hospital in Westchester County dedicated solely to adult rehabilitation medicine. The celebration of the 25th Burke Award Dinner was held on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

This year’s event was extra special as we saluted and honored our Burke Healthcare Heroes who have worked tirelessly treating survivors of COVID-19, as well as traditional rehabilitation patients.

Our staff are truly heroes for the passion, dedication and professionalism they demonstrate every day, especially in the face of this unprecedented challenge. Their efforts have never wavered, and they should be recognized and applauded.
