White Plains, NY, SEPTEMBER 5: The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting its annual brunch on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. on the Burke campus. The Burke Auxiliary is a group of men and women dedicated to serving as volunteers and raising money for Burke Rehabilitation Hospital.
This year, the Burke Auxiliary’s brunch will feature guest speaker Marie Spencer, CRRN, Ph.D., Burke vice president and chief nursing officer. Dr. Spencer will speak about the dangers of high blood pressure, and Burke nurses will be available on site to perform free blood pressure screenings to attendees.
Since its beginning more than 50 years ago, the Burke Auxiliary has donated over $1 million to special projects at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. This year alone, the Auxiliary donated $30,000 toward a number of hospital initiatives, some examples include the purchase of a muscle stimulation bike for the outpatient physical therapy department, a vein viewing system to help easily find veins for blood draws for the nursing department and even an iPad Pro for the neuropsychology department.
“Such an active Auxiliary is crucial to allowing Burke to continue to expand and create new initiatives,” said Richard Sgaglio, Ph.D., vice president, marketing, communications, and development. “The annual fundraising events and volunteer time the Auxiliary members spend help Burke to purchase new and modern equipment, among other things. We are looking forward to this year’s brunch with a information on high blood pressure everybody can benefit from.”
Brunch tickets are $30 each. If you would like to attend, please contact Peg Cataldo at (914) 428-1997 or Loretta Nelson at (914) 381-0968 by Wednesday, September 13.
