WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – October 11, 2016 – Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, in conjunction with Hanger Clinic, will be hosting a continuing education event on Wednesday, October 26 for healthcare and rehabilitation professionals who work with prosthetics.
The event, which is geared towards physical and occupational therapists, case mangers and other rehab professionals, will feature a lecture given by Kevin Carroll, MS, CP, FAAOP/D, the vice president of prosthetics for Hanger Clinic. Carroll has been working in the field as a practicing prosthetist, researcher and educator for more than 35 years and is committed to improving prosthetics. In particular, Carroll is known for his work with Winter, the dolphin from the film Dolphin Tale. According to Sandra Alexandrou, PT, MBA, Senior Administrator, Inpatient Rehabilitation Services, “Everyone at Burke is excited t0 meet Mr. Carroll and learn of his firsthand account of working with Winter. He will also impart valuable information for therapists regarding his vast experience creating prosthetics for patients.”
Along with the lecture, there will be a number of interactive sessions on lower limb prosthetics, including: hands-on demonstrations with prosthetic patients, discussion and review of lower limb structure, the latest prosthetic technology, Medicare guidelines, prosthetic options and more.
