New Director of Burke Hospital's Memory Evaluation and Treatment Services (METS)

Dr.Pasquale Fonzetti has been Appointed Director of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital's Memory Evaluation and Treatment Services Program

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – July 15, 2016 – Pasquale Fonzetti, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed director of the Memory Evaluation and Treatment Service (METS) at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, NY, a program that provides comprehensive outpatient assessment and treatment of memory disorders.

Dr. Fonzetti, a board-certified neurologist, had been the associate director of the program for 15 years and also serves as a staff neurologist at Burke. Through METS, Dr. Fonzetti works with patients to evaluate memory problems, providing diagnosis and treatment options for a wide-range of dementia disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.

The program, which was established in 1979, offers patients services such as a pre-evaluation and screening, neurological exam, CT, MRI and other diagnostic neurological imaging, a neuropsychological evaluation of cognitive function, behavioral evaluation and management, caregiver assessment and more.

In addition, the METS program is dedicated to working closely with the patient and their family, providing a family conference to discuss diagnosis and treatment options after the evaluation. “Dr. Fonzetti is an accomplished and skilled neurologist and we are thrilled to have him at the helm of the Memory Evaluation and Treatment Service program in this expanded role,” says Mary Beth Walsh, M.D., Executive Medical Director and CEO of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. “He is dedicated to his patients and their families and his expertise will continue to be an asset to the program.”

Dr. Fonzetti earned his doctorate in biological science and his medical degree from Bari University in Italy. He completed his residency in neurology at Seton Hall University Neuroscience Institute in New Jersey and a fellowship in neurological rehabilitation at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. He has served as a research investigator for multiple clinical trials on dementia and stroke and is a diplomat with the National Board of Medical Examiners and Chairman of the Institutional Review Board. Along with Dr. Fonzetti, the clinical team in the METS program includes neuropsychologist Joseph Hirsch, Ph.D., and coordinators Rosanna Cirio, M.A and Kathy Byrnes, RN. The program is located at Burke’s main campus in White Plains, at 785 Mamaroneck Ave.
