Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Receives New Three-Year CARF Accreditation
White Plains, NY – September 02, 2015 – The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an international, independent, nonprofit organization focused on advancing the quality of patient services, has awarded Burke Rehabilitation Hospital another three-year accreditation.
As a result of Burke’s latest survey, the following programs received the prestigious accreditation: Inpatient rehabilitation programs for adults; Inpatient rehabilitation programs for children and adolescents; Brain Injury Specialty Program, adults; Brain Injury Specialty Program, children and adolescents; Spinal Cord System of Care, adults; Stroke Specialty Program, adults; and Interdisciplinary Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs: Spinal Cord System of Care, adults.
This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to a rehabilitation hospital and demonstrates Burke’s adherence to CARF’s high quality standards. The three-year accreditation, which is through June 2018, comes after a rigorous peer review process where Burke demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, ensuring the best possible patient outcomes. Burke has held the CARF accreditation since the late 1990s.
"CARF is the gold standard within rehabilitation medicine so we are both pleased and proud that the organization continues to recognize Burke’s outstanding rehabilitation programs, which are patient-centric and designed to help patients regain the highest level of independence possible," said Mary Beth Walsh, M.D., CEO and executive medical director of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. In the accreditation letter, CARF stated that, "this achievement is an indication of your organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served. Services, personnel and documentation clearly indicate an established pattern of practice excellence."
