Burke Adds Massage Therapy Program

Published October 4, 2017

The newest addition to the variety of therapeutic services that Burke Rehabilitation Hospital offers is massage therapy. Massage therapy at Burke is available to patients and the general public, so whether you have had a hard day, are recuperating from an injury, or simply looking to relax, a massage may be just what you need.

The benefits of massage therapy go far beyond pampering. Massage therapy has gained recognition for its medical application and physical benefits. Although the basic goal of massage is to help the body heal itself by increasing blood flow, there are many studies that point to other therapeutic benefits. Depending on the type of massage, it may strengthen the immune system, improve joint range of motion, decrease arthritis pain, reduce pain from trauma and injuries, improve muscle tone, promote relaxation and emotional well-being and increase circulation.

Burke will offer a variety of therapeutic massages at the main campus Adult Fitness Center, as well as the Armonk, Somers and Mamaroneck Outpatient Clinics. Certified massage therapists will perform Chair, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Meditative, Oncology, Reflexology, Scalp and Swedish massages at the different locations. Not all massages are offered at all sites, so please contact the site directly at the number listed below for offerings and availability.

Massage therapy is not covered by insurance, therefore there is a fee for service. Pricing varies depending upon massage type and length. For specific information, please contact the site directly or click here.
