Burke 2017 Kayak Clinics
- Fri, September 1, 2017
- 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
WHO & WHAT:
Our small group, kayak outings are ideal for individuals with physical challenges who are looking to learn how to paddle, who are returning to the sport, or who are interested in practicing the skills they have. In general, a moderately strong core, sitting balance and upper body strength along with fine motor skills are required to balance and propel craft. Adaptations for participation will be attempted as much as possible. There will be single and double kayak options. Craft selection is at the discretion of the clinic leader. Actual time kayaking will be one approx. one hour. Clinics are for all ages, but those under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Clinics held in Peekskill (pls see August 2nd) are for individuals who are new to the sport/returning after a long absence, those who require moderate to maximum assistance with transfers and/or need maximum core support.
Clinics held in Stamford are for people who with some paddling experience who are able to transfer themselves from the dock to a kayak with minimal to moderate assistance and who do not require a lot of back support in the boat.
