TBI Health Fair A Success

People who have suffered a brain injury have unique needs regarding their rehabilitation, recovery and life post discharge. Their families and caregivers also have to deal with many complicated issues within healthcare. On Thursday, July 20th Burke’s Outpatient Department held a health fair that focused on the special needs of TBI patients, caregivers and families. The event was held from noon to 4:00 pm in the Patient Dining Room and Harris Parlor.

It featured demonstrations and lectures on topics such as:

  • Memory aides
  • Relaxation
  • Aphasia applications
  • New physical therapy equipment

As well as other exciting new clinical developments. Experts were on hand to answer questions about everything from Housing and government assistance to information about how to cope with the limits of your insurance! Burke believes that empowering patients and their families with information and education can help make a difference in recovery. We are proud to offer such programs that add to the quality of life of our patients and the larger community. We would like to thank all those who participated in the event.
