Barry Jordan, MD, MPH, Burke’s Assistant Medical Director, was recently named a Best Doctor in neurology by New York magazine—for the 16th year in a row.
The list of Top Doctors: New York Metro Area is put together by research company Castle Connolly. “The firm conducts a peer-review survey. The idea is that medical professionals are best qualified to judge other medical professionals, and if one recommendation is good (think of your doctor referring you to a specialist), multiple recommendations are better. Licensed physicians vote online (castleonnolly.com/nominations) for those doctors they view as exceptional,” according to New York.
Dr. Jordan has been at Burke since 1999 and is a board-certified neurologist with specialized experience and interests in sports neurology, Alzheimer's disease, and traumatic brain injury. Along with his role as Burke’s Assistant Medical Director, he also serves as the hospital’s Director of Neurorehabilitation.
In addition to his work at Burke, Dr. Jordan is a team physician for U.S.A. Boxing and for 13 years served as the Chief Medical Officer of the New York State Athletic Commission.
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in neurophysiology and obtained his medical degree from Harvard Medical School.
This year, the magazine featured a list of over 1,300 doctors in a variety of specialties—from dermatology to pediatrics to physical medicine & rehabilitation. The list appears in the May 29 – June 11, 2017 issue of New York and you can see the full breakdown here.
