Spotlight On: Burke’s Arthritis Center

Published October 7, 2016

World Arthritis Day is on October 12—and, according to the CDC, there are over 52 million people in the U.S. living with arthritis. But arthritis, which is one of the most common disabilities in the country, doesn’t have to sideline you completely.

The Arthritis Center at Burke offers a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary medical and therapeutic program for patients with arthritis of various types including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, myopathies, and other musculoskeletal disorders.

Specially designed exercises and a variety of drug regimens are components of the treatment protocols. Treatment focuses on pain relief, control of inflammation, management of medication, and the improvement of function and independence. The overall goal of Burke’s Arthritis Center is to improve the quality of life of patients with these debilitating diseases.

The Arthritis Center is headed by certified rheumatologist Bento Mascarenas, M.D., along with Mary Beth Walsh, M.D.

The Center is located at Burke’s main outpatient clinic on its White Plains campus. For more information, please call (914) 597-2298.
