Spotlight On: Outpatient Cardiac Rehab Program

Published February 3, 2015

February marks American Heart Month, a month set aside to educate and inform people on how to keep their heart functioning at its best.

At Burke, we not only encourage you to stay healthy through facilities such as the Fitness Center, but also want to help you make the fullest possible recovery after you’ve experienced a cardiac event.

To that end, for the last several years Burke’s Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has delivered a multidisciplinary approach to helping patients with heart disease recover faster and regain full, productive lifestyles through exercise, education and counseling.

The program delivers a multi-phase approach to treating patients with:

  • Angina
  • Cardiac valve repair or replacement
  • Coronary angioplasty and/or stenting
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Myocardial infarction (heart attack)
  • Heart failure

Working with a patient’s cardiologist, Burke’s physicians and clinical exercise physiologists develop an extensive plan of care to address each patient’s unique needs. A clinical exercise physiologist reviews each patient’s specific goals in order to develop an optimal program to achieve the patient’s physical and educational needs.

The program takes place in the outpatient clinic on Burke’s main campus in White Plains. To learn about the program, click here. And for further information, including fees, or to schedule a visit, call Meghan Marone at (914) 597-2802.
