On Friday, May 30, Burke Rehabilitation Center is hosting its 18th annual Learn to Golf and First Swing Clinic for therapists, golf professionals and physically-challenged individuals at Fairview Golf Center in Elmsford, NY. The day will be broken up into a morning session (seminar) and an afternoon session (clinic).
Learn to Golf Seminar
The seminar portion, which takes place in the morning, is designed to train therapists and golf professionals how to teach golf and encourage people with disabilities to learn or re-learn the game. Trainees will learn adaptive techniques and modifications for swing, stance and game play that will allow them to best instruct individuals with physical disabilities in the game of golf.
For therapists and golf pros only (potential to earn CEU’s)
Time: 9:00-11:30 a.m
Fee: $35 for registration. Pre-registration and payment required.
First Swing Clinic
The afternoon clinic will provide individuals with disabilities an opportunity to learn adaptive techniques for playing golf. All individuals with disabilities who attend the clinic will receive one-on-one instruction with a trained professional.
For individuals with disabilities
Time: 12 p.m.– 3 p.m.
The instructor and golf pro for the clinic will be Paula Slivinski, a member of the Professional Golfers Association, golf coach and teacher for 25 years.
The event will be held at the Fairview Golf Center, 300 Waterside Drive, in Elmsford, NY. It is coordinated by Burke's Therapeutic Recreation department for the benefit of the community.
