The goal of Burke’s intensive inpatient rehabilitation programs is to maximize your recovery. Whether you have had a stroke, brain or spinal cord injury; a neurological condition; bilateral knee or hip replacement; amputation; pulmonary or cardiac disease-- our expert rehabilitation teams are committed to helping you return to a life as active and productive as possible.
At Burke, each patient's program is custom tailored to meet his or her needs and goals utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to medical care, including physical, occupational, respiratory, speech/language and recreation therapies, specialty medicine, nursing, case management/social work and appropriate specialty services as needed. Burke is different from other rehabilitation facilities in the individualized approach to treating patients - there is never a “one size fits all” program.
Group discussions, individual counseling sessions and educational sessions help patients and family members adjust to circumstances resulting from physical disability, and prepare for a new way of life. We invite you to learn more about our inpatient acute rehabilitation programs by clicking on the appropriate link on the left side of this page.
Each patient's cultural and religious needs are respected by the entire team. Accommodations to the patient’s schedule, dietary needs and requests, and the provision of appropriate equipment are provided to enhance the patient’s experience and support full participation in the rehabilitation program. All staff members participate in annual cultural diversity and sensitivity training.
For all programs, the age range will be 16 years old through the lifespan. However, referrals for patients younger than 16 years old will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Located in White Plains, New York, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital's inpatient rehabilitation programs attract patients from Westchester County, New York City, Long Island, Northern New Jersey, and Connecticut. Burke also welcomes patients from across the country and around the world.
