For more than a century, Burke has been a leader in the field of rehabilitation medicine. Holding true to our mission and offering the highest level of patient-centered care, we have built upon the legacy of our founders and today offer a broad range of comprehensive, acute rehabilitation programs for spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary disease, amputations and orthopedics.
Our staff of rehabilitation experts work as a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal, customized care. This year, we changed our program structure and now offer our inpatient therapies 7 days a week to meet patients’ needs. Because our goal is to help each patient reach their maximum recovery in the shortest amount of time possible, we continue to employ the latest technology in our programs.
In addition to our inpatient programs, Burke continues to expand our outpatient presence, both in services offered and locations. Our outpatient services include physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as numerous other specialty programs. We are looking forward to the opening of two new outpatient clinics in 2018.
In November, Burke launched an outpatient physician practice on the main campus in White Plains for patients who are experiencing a gap in their crucial follow-up medical care. These patients are now able to schedule appointments with board-certified Burke and Montefiore doctors for a variety of medical conditions requiring physical rehabilitation and specialty services in an outpatient setting.
I am eagerly anticipating the opening of The Marsal Caregiver Center in the spring in our main hospital building. The first of its kind in a rehabilitation hospital, the Center will provide a much needed respite for caregivers. We understand the importance of caring for the caregiver, and will offer this center as a space dedicated to providing them with the support and resources they need to care for their loved one.
We are also strengthening partnerships within the Montefiore Health System to continue to expand the reach of our post-acute rehabilitation services throughout the Hudson Valley. Burke has partnered with White Plains Hospital, St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh and, most recently, the Shaffer Extended Care Center, part of Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.
Behind the scenes, Burke also conducts clinical research, where our physician-researchers, therapists and other medical professionals strive to make scientific breakthroughs that extend the boundaries of rehabilitation medicine. Our community education and outreach programs, support groups and fitness center continue Burke’s rich history of helping our communities stay healthy.
Burke proudly offers a continuum of care that will enhance the quality of your, or your loved one's, life. I hope you will take some time to browse our website. Please enjoy learning more about Burke and feel free to reach out should you have a comment or question.
