Become a Psychology Extern
Burke Rehabilitation offers an intensive psychology externship program for pre-doctoral psychology candidates. Choose from the Adult track or the Neuropsychology track. As a Psychology extern, you will train 16 hours per week in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Receive hands-on-experience under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists through various opportunities.
- Work with a medically complex, adult patient population
- Conduct individual/family and group psychotherapy sessions
- Conduct cognitive remediation
- Perform cognitive and neuropsychological assessments
- Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds, Grand Rounds presentations, case conferences, and weekly extern seminars

Become a Psychology Intern
Burke Rehabilitation Hospital offers clinical rotations as part of the Montefiore Psychology Internship program . Interns will train for a minimum of three months in Burke’s inpatient setting. Candidates with a strong interest in working with neurologically and medically complex populations and prior experience in neuropsychology or health psychology may select a rotation at Burke which will allow them to:
- Obtain assessment and intervention experience with a medically complex, adult inpatient population
- Receive supervision provided by licensed clinical psychologists specialized in neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology
- Work on a multi-disciplinary inpatient treatment team
