National Senior Health and Fitness Day is held at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital the last Wednesday in May. The common goal for the day is to help keep older Americans healthy and fit. National Senior Health & Fitness Day is the nation's largest annual health promotion event for older adults.
2019 Senior Health & Fitness Day's theme is “Live and Thrive with Exercise!”
This full day event will feature information on a variety of topics to help seniors stay healthy, including healthy eating, mindfulness, exercise and stroke prevention, exercise for fall prevention, increasing your happiness, and healthy living for the brain and body. There will be a chair yoga class to participate in, a special performance by the White Plains Chorale Singers, and lunch will be served. Click here to download the day's schedule.
The event is sponsored by the Burke Adult Fitness Center, The Bristal, White Plains Hospital, White Plains Recreation & Parks Community Center and White Plains Senior Citizen Advisory Committee.
