Two Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Leaders Recognized by Crain’s NY Business as Notable Women in Health Care

August 12, 2019

Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer Mooyeon Oh-Park, MD, MS and Assistant Chief Medical Officer Carolin Dohle, MD were named “Notable Women in Health Care” by Crain’s New York Business. The special section appears in the Aug. 5 issue.

Now in its second year, Crain’s Notable Women in Health Care celebrates an industry uniquely shaped by women in New York committed to moving toward gender equity in health care and is inclusive and reflective of the many talented women working in health care organizations, startups, medicine, science, and academia.

Dr. Oh-Park, named to the list for the second straight year, oversees the clinical operations of the hospital and strategic planning and expansion of Burke’s programs and services. She joined Burke in April 2018 and has played a key role in putting the hospital on the map nationally by streamlining clinical processes and creating programs to fill gaps in the continuum of care in the rehabilitation field. She is the recipient of 15 teaching awards and serves in leadership roles on various professional associations and editorial boards including the American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Crain’s has an amazing reputation within the healthcare industry,” Dr. Oh-Park said. “I’m honored to be recognized by the publication and I’m thrilled to share it with my colleague and friend, Dr. Carolin Dohle.”

Dr. Dohle oversees the hospital’s patient safety and quality of care programs and initiatives, and has implemented necessary processes to improve performance. She implemented a new approach to patient safety, including the “Good Catch,” which fosters Burke’s team approach to patient care and psychological safety for employees. Dr. Dohle is also the Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Rehabilitation Program, overseeing the programs and services for stroke patients.

“I am incredibly humbled to receive this recognition and to work so closely with my fellow honoree,” Dr. Dohle said. “I am honored to be a part of a tradition at Burke that has continued for decades.”

Burke is a member of the Montefiore Health System that had four additional members of its leadership team named to the list: Colleen Blye, executive vice president & chief financial officer and Amanda Parsons, MD, vice president, community and population health of Montefiore Health System; Tia Powell, MD, director of Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics; and Lynn Richmond, executive vice president & chief strategy officer of Montefiore Medicine.
