On April 1, Burke welcomed its new President and CEO, Jeffrey Menkes. With more than 30 years of healthcare/hospital administration experience, Mr. Menkes comes to Burke from the Montefiore Health System where he served as Senior Vice President for Network Development.
Dear Community Members:
I am thrilled to join Burke Rehabilitation Hospital as President and CEO. Burke is home to a dedicated staff of physicians, therapists, nurses and other healthcare professionals who work hard every day to ensure our patients get the best care possible.
I have had the pleasure of working closely with Dr. Mary Beth Walsh, Burke’s outgoing CEO and Burke’s Chairman of the Board, Don Foley, for several years during the process of Burke becoming a member of the Montefiore Health System.
The alignment between Burke and Montefiore has been beneficial for both hospitals; Burke has been able to increase the number of patients it serves and Montefiore has a real partner for its patients who require acute inpatient rehabilitation. We hope to strengthen Burke’s position as the preeminent post-acute care hospital in the Montefiore Health System moving forward.
As many of you know, this is a historic time in healthcare and the landscape is changing rapidly. I, along with the entire team here at Burke, are committed to navigating this new era in a way that allows us to continue to offer patient-centered care and services that serve both patients and the community.
Our mission at Burke is to help patients get back to the life they love after they’ve had a life-changing illness, injury or surgery. I hope to uphold this mission every day and continue Burke’s legacy of leadership in the field of rehabilitation medicine and its unparalleled commitment to its patients and their recovery.
I look forward to working with and for you.
