About Us

Message From Our President & CEO

We know that nobody ever plans on experiencing a life-changing illness or injury; and we know that the effects can be far-reaching. We know this, because Burke has been a leader in the field of rehabilitation medicine for more than a century. Since 1915, we have continued to build upon the legacy of our founders, and today, as a member of the Montefiore Health System, we offer a broad range of comprehensive acute rehabilitation programs for spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary disease, amputations and orthopedics.

When you choose Burke for your rehabilitation journey, you enter into a continuum of care that begins with your admission and continues on for a lifetime.  As a Burke patient, you will find that everything we do is centered around providing you with the best-possible experience.  Upon admission, you will join a team of board-certified physicians and highly-trained nurses, therapists and social workers who are focused on one goal: developing and executing a care plan that employs the latest technology to help you achieve your highest level of independence.

We know that a meaningful component of your recovery is caring for those who care for you. That’s why our Marsal Caregiver Center provides solace and resources for caregivers. Thanks to the generosity of Bryan and Kathleen Marsal, this 1,675 square foot space located within the hospital offers a restorative place where caregivers can go to receive support and education for themselves. Our commitment to the patient experience goes beyond the Marsal Caregiver Center. We continually explore new ideas and programs to ensure we help all of our patients maximize their recovery.

We offer an extensive outpatient program for our patients after they leave the hospital and for members of the community at large. Our outpatient physician practice in White Plains offers treatment from expert doctors for follow up care or new patients experiencing complications from stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, cardiac disease and many other conditions. For ongoing therapy, Burke’s network of nine outpatient therapy clinics throughout Westchester and the Bronx means more patients can receive exceptional care closer to home.

I encourage you to participate in our annual community and education events, our adaptive sports programs or learn what our Adult Fitness Center can offer you. We are with you on every step of your rehabilitation journey, with a program to keep you happy and healthy for years to come.

Thank you for your interest in Burke. We are ready to meet your rehabilitation needs, support your caregivers and loved ones and answer your questions during this uncertain time. Please review our website for more information, and if you need us, we're here to help.
