Pioneering Rehabilitation

Joan Jacobson

"The therapists and nursing staff at Burke are fabulous. The attention and care they gave me was exceptional and made recovery easier."

Joan Jacobson came to Burke in March 2013 after having a unilateral knee replacement surgery on her right knee. She knew she would be in good hands as her brother was a former patient and "the treatment he had and progress he made at Burke were amazing," Joan recalled.

When it was time for her to go through rehab, she was ready. Joan had therapy for at least three hours a day during her week at Burke, strengthening the knee, bending it and other exercises that would help her recover quicker. "All the exercises helped me in every way but the therapists and their encouragement made it easier," she said. "They are so knowledgeable and assisted me throughout."

Along with the therapists, Joan said, the nurses made a huge difference in her stay. "They are all so professional in everything they do and were always there to help me and answer all of my questions.
