The difference in rehab is Burke
Hope through Rehabilitation & Research
Volunteers help make Burke Rehabilitation Hospital the unique and friendly facility that it is. Over the years, hundreds if not thousands, of individuals, families and community organizations, have donated their time and talents at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. From working at our gift shop, to the information desk, to assisting in our patient greenhouse, volunteers are an integral and important part of Burke’s success. Most of Burke’s volunteers contribute to Burke by joining our active Auxiliary.
The Burke Rehabilitation Auxiliary, established in 1959, is a group of men and women dedicated to two basic goals:
Since its beginning more than 50 years ago, the Burke Auxiliary has donated over $1 million to special projects at the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. The Auxiliary sponsors many events and activities throughout the year. Below is a list of some volunteer positions available at Burke.
Auxiliary members can be as active as they like. However, we ask that adult volunteers commit to three hours, one day a week. Teenage volunteers are asked to make a commitment of 40 hours during a six-month period. The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old.
For more information about volunteering, please contact Gail Cornacchia, Manager of Volunteer Services, at (914) 597-2381, or via email at gcornacc@burke.org.
Please note that not all volunteer positions may have the need for new volunteers. However, we will do our best to accommodate you.
