Spinal Cord Injury Program
Injuries to the spinal cord are among the most devastating. If you or someone you know has suffered such an injury, you are aware of the shock, confusion and anxiety. But there is reason for hope. Through advances in technology and breakthroughs in medical and rehabilitative sciences, recovery is more likely than ever before.
At Burke Rehabilitation Hospital’s spinal cord injury recovery program, an expert team of clinicians, led by Alan David, D.O., works to maximize neurological and physical recovery. The treatment team includes physical, occupational, speech and therapeutic recreational therapists, neuro-psychologists, nurses, social workers and chaplains--all of whom help patients manage daily activities.
Working with you and your family, we develop a specifically tailored rehabilitation program. Your plan includes short and long-term goals and addresses follow-up services, including referrals to less acute care, and home modifications. Support for family members is offered through family meetings with social workers and neuro-psychologists.
