Physical Therapy
Physical therapy (PT) addresses physical deficits from traumatic injuries, repetitive motions, chronic conditions and congenital defects. The goal of therapy is to restore and improve function to assist you in becoming as independent as possible.  Following a thorough evaluation, your physical therapist will design an individualized treatment program tailored to address your specific needs. This program will include exercise to restore or improve range of motion, muscle strength, posture alignment, breathing patterns, circulation, balance, coordination and endurance.

During physical therapy you will learn to use ambulation equipment if indicated such as canes, walkers, braces and artificial limbs, and be instructed in proper walking techniques.  You may participate in education classes, general conditioning and ambulation groups if indicated. Therapeutic equipment is available.  Your physician and therapist will determine whether aquatic therapy is right for you.  Following your discharge, outpatient physical therapy and a variety of community-based exercise programs are available.
