The Speech Language Pathology Department
Speech-language pathologists evaluate and treat adults with communication disorders, such as speech, language, voice and cognitive difficulties, and swallowing disorders.
They will evaluate each patient and determine appropriate therapeutic interventions,and work with individuals to help them regain the ability to express and understand wants and needs at simple to complex levels.
Speech-language therapists help restore speech clarity and improve cognitive functioning, problem solving and memory skills. In addition, speech-language pathologists assist individuals with swallowing disorders to safely eat foods and drink liquids.
Speech-language therapy is available for inpatients and on an outpatient basis on the main Hospital campus in building 8.
