Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program
Nearly half a million people have hips and knees replaced annually due to arthritis and other disabling conditions. Joint replacement surgery enables many who are severely disabled or in pain to become more active, mobile and independent.

At Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, Maria Briones, M.D., and Ellen Gitler, M.D., work with an expert team to maximize each patient’s post-operative recovery. Burke Hospital’s intensive orthopedic rehabilitation program improves mobility and promotes greater independence completing daily activities.  Burke’s personalized care and individual therapy sessions help patients recover more quickly and experience less pain. Most of our patients return home within one week, walking independently with a single cane.
