The difference in rehab is Burke
Hope through Rehabilitation & Research

The Outpatient Department embodies Burke’s professional and compassionate spirit: We’re dedicated to helping patients reach their full potential. Our individually tailored outpatient programs complement the acute, intensive inpatient experience. Former patients can continue their progress after they have returned home, at any of the four locations most convenient to them. Our outpatient rehabilitative services are equally available to community residents.
We care for patients with physical disabilities resulting from orthopedic and sports injuries, stroke, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, cardiac disease, chronic pulmonary disease, arthritis, amputation and other causes. Our services include physical and occupational therapy, speech, language and swallowing therapy, and cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. We have an arthritis center and an osteoporosis screening service, and we offer a variety of exercise and education programs for patients after discharge from therapy.
Over the past several years, Burke has experienced a significant increase in the need for outpatient services. In 2010, for example, we provided nearly 70,000 outpatient visits, an increase of 5,800 visits from the previous year. This growing need for outpatient therapy led to the recent opening of our Mamaroneck center which has now joined our other outpatient sites – White Plains, Purchase and the Bronx.
Expertise in rehabilitative care for patients of all ages has long been the trademark of Burke’s reputation. Thank you for your support and assistance in helping us build and maintain a solid reputation in the community.
Our rehabilitation professionals and staff are proud to be part of the continuum of care offered at Burke. We look forward to continuing to enhance our patients’ lives, for many years to come.
