In honor of Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting a Free Hand Cycling Clinic on the Burke campus at 785 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. Try hand-cycling on a variety of bikes using a closed track on our beautiful grounds.
This event is open to all abilities but participants should have enough upper body strength/movement to move the hand pedals. There will be many experienced bikers and therapists on-hand to assist people with getting on and off the bikes, as well as aid in using the bikes.
This is a great opportunity to get to know the community. Light refreshments are included.
Pre-registration is required. For more information and to register for this free event, contact Alexandra Oudheusden, director of Therapeutic Recreation at 914-597-2248 or by email email@example.com.
If you cannot make it to this event, there will be another Hand Cycling Clinic on Sept. 24. There is also the Heels & Wheels 5K Road Race and Walk on Sept. 28 that is open to hand-cyclists and wheelchair users, as well as runners and walkers.
