Sunghee Cho, Ph.D., director of the Preclinical Stroke Modeling laboratory at Burke, has been selected as a member for the Neural Oxidative Metabolism and Death Study Section with the Center for Scientific Review. She will begin her term immediately and will serve on the panel until June 30, 2018.
Study sections review grant applications submitted to the National Institutes of Health, make recommendations on these applications and survey the status of research in their fields of science. Members of the study sections are selected based on their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline, as well as their judgement, objectivity and ability to work well in groups.
According to Richard Nakamura, Ph.D., acting director of the Center for Scientific Review, the functions of the study sections are of great value to medical and allied research, and Dr. Cho's participation in assuring the quality of the NIH review process is of the utmost importance.
