National Senior Health and Fitness Day is held at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital the last Wednesday in May. The common goal for the day is to help keep older Americans healthy and fit. National Senior Health & Fitness Day is the nation's largest annual health promotion event for older adults.
The day consists of lectures and fitness programs for seniors. Sponsors include Burke’s Fitness Center, White Plains Hospital Center’s Division of Geriatric Services, the City of White Plains Recreation & Parks Senior Center, Greenwich Woods HealthCare and Rehabilitation, Willow Towers Assisted Living and the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services. Each year the day’s activities include a different theme. Senior Health and Fitness Day at Burke is free and open to the public. Due to limited space, registration is required.
